Requiem Cafe has been a beacon of inclusion, self-discovery, and hope since it first opened its doors in 2019. During that time, Requiem has stood fast with the queer community to provide a vital third space. We firmly believe that Requiem should be accessible to all those who need a place to call home that accepts them for who they are. Requiem has faced many challenges over the years: the pandemic, increasing rent and operational costs, a parklet obscuring our space, and high tariffs have forced us to work extra hard to overcome them.
These challenges facilitated the need to do more collaboration events. While we absolutely love these collaboration events, it becomes more challenging for Requiem to be a place for folks who need a home-away-from-home. We want to be stable enough to provide that downtime for those who need it without having to wait in a two-hour
line, or longer.
All donations will help us achieve the following goals:

Preservation

Requiem is a place that strives to exist regardless of what the economy does, what collaborations are available to us, or what crazy things are happening in the world. The less we rely on strictly capitalism on making sales, the more we can provide for the community without focus being on what necessarily sells best with the most return.

Expansion

The requests for Requiem to extend its goals beyond Southern California have been many. We see the benefits of making satellite locations to offer the benefits of this safe space and collaboration hub so much further. Many have traveled the world to visit us and we'd like to start coming to you! Fundraising would go toward the nest-egg required to expand to multiple locations.

Many times Requiem has stood firm with communities fighting for the needs of many. We have provided space as a gathering hub for protests, free supplies, donations, outreach, and support. Supporting us directly support our ability to rise to the calls-to-action to fight for change.
