THE LORE
OF
R E Q U I E M

R E Q U I E M
Wide, calm, and peaceful, Requiem is unlike any inclusion known to those who find it. Those who are lost are often drawn to Requiem by a shift gradient of crystalline light. The Omnicryst around Requiem is smooth, solid, and steady. Those who natively inhabit Requiem are gentle, peaceful, but quietly powerful. Ancient abandoned architecture tells stories of a once sprawling civilization that cast out its notions of glory for the
lifestyle they now adopt.
Requiem natives welcome those in need of a home with open arms and let them hold onto their traditions without impediment unless harm befalls Requiem or each other. Serving as a home to many who have found it most in need, Requiem is bespeckled with diverse indicators of different technology levels, art and architecture, and customs, each serving as a reminder of a people who escaped a cataclysm and found a new home in Requiem.

CHARACTERS

CIRRUS
Cirrus has been called many things:
Thief, Troublemaker, and most recently, Stowaway. Cirrus snuck aboard Captain Coeleus’s ship and escaped with them to Requiem before the great crystagenisis consumed Stellania. For as long as they can remember, Cirrus never had a place to call home so their ties are loose as they’re always in search of a new adventure. Little does Cirrus know, their arrival at Requiem will mark the beginning of their greatest adventure yet.

FERNION
Fernion - The broken king of Ignalia. In an urgent effort to avoid catastrophe, Fernion made a quick decision that saved him and those in his throne room, but doomed his people. Once brimming with confidence, he now questions his every move and carries an immense weight of guilt on his shoulders. While the Ignalian survivors love their king and sympathize deeply, he believes they resent him as he ruminates over his failure.

KALEDIA
Kaleida - A collector of shards of the Omnicryst, a powerful sorceress, and a survivor above all, Kaleida was hardened by a life fleeing in terror after experiencing first hand the evils of the Aurora Empire. Seeking to amass enough power to single handedly destroy the empire once and for all, she followed the same brilliant light from Blush that brought both the Stellanians and Ignalians to Requiem. Sensing an awesome dormant power here, she prepares to make Requiem into a weapon to destroy the degenerate imperialists.

OMNICRYST
The name for the all-powerful, magical crystalline universe in which all these stories take place. The Omnicryst is a crystal and within it, there are no stars, no moons, and not even space. Looking up from the grassy fields of Requiem’s forest, you would see a sky made of pure shimmering crystal, dense, and rigid. All lands in Requiem form in hollow pockets of the Omnicrysts, called inclusions, and these can be barren or teeming with life. The Omnicryst itself contains limitless magical potential and shards of it that break off and fall into inclusions allow for the evocation of powerful magic in the right hands.

The great Fortis forest is speckled with dilapidated ruins of an ancient civilization. Hundreds of miles of ruins run beneath the Fortis and it is a hot spot for exploration for anyone who decides to leave the bustle
from the city of Fortuna.
Kaleida’s den resides within this great natural wonder.

THE CITY OF
FORTUNA
THE HEART OF REQUIEM
A giant city of artists split into 8 sectors, each controlled by a syndicate. At the very heart of the city is the Fortuna Radix, an 8 sided monolith atop a snail-shell shaped mound. The Radix predates the city of Fortuna and is shrouded in mystery to its citizens.
The Radix contains statues protruding from the walls of the 8 fictional leaders of the syndicates. When an artist creates art or completes a task within their syndicate worthy enough, they can go to the Radix and receive a “Decus”, a small crystal tuned specifically to them which can produce infinite magic relevant to the art they created. Each Decus only has value to the one who earned it, so they are relished prizes for an individual to create the best art possible.
Through positive reinforcement in providing Decus crystals to those who build up Fortuna and create art, the city formed around the Radix itself. No one has discovered how the Decus are created and little is known about the origins of the Radix though it is known that it connects to sprawling the Fortis ruins.
